What actually happens when hardwood floors are damaged by water?

When your hardwood floors suffer water damage there are several types of damage that can occur. Cupping, buckling, staining, and damage to the finish of hardwood flooring are all common type of damage that can occur due to water damage. Most of these issues are moisture related and happened due swelling and or bowing of the sides of each individual board. • Utilize fans and dehumidifiers to pull moisture from the floors. Inspect the flooring once it is visibly dry for signs of mold or fungi growth. You can use a moisture testing meter to confirm that the excess moisture has been removed.
